Beach Volleyball and Footvolley are extremely popular in Brazil, but especially in the Marvelous City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cariocas use these sand courts to play either <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gringo-rio.com\/sports-and-surfing-in-rio\/sports-in-rio\/volley-in-rio\/\">beach volleyball<\/a> or footvolley, a sport invented in Rio de Janeiro that combines aspects of volleyball and football.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have a net and a ball of your own, do not hesitate. Just look for an empty court, call your friends, and play your favorite sport for free at any beach. With such <a href=\"https:\/\/caminhoslanguages.com\/blog\/best-beaches-rio-de-janeiro\/\">beautiful beaches<\/a> so close to home, it is no surprise beach volleyball and footvolley are so popular in Brazil, especially in Rio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Everyone here seems to love playing sports at the beach \u2013 beach paddleball, beach volleyball, and footvolley are definitely among the <a href=\"https:\/\/caminhoslanguages.com\/blog\/popular-sports-in-brazil\/\">most popular sports in Brazil<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"So_what_is_footvolley\"><\/span>So, what is footvolley?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/caminhoslanguages.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/futvolley-in-rio-de-janeiro.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/caminhoslanguages.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/futvolley-in-rio-de-janeiro-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"footvolley in rio de janeiro\" class=\"wp-image-75484\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Footvolley is a mix of beach volleyball and football. Octavio de Moraes invented this sport back in the &#8217;60s, in Copacabana Beach. The game is played with two players on each side of the court. They essentially follow the rules of beach volleyball, but players cannot use their hands. You should only touch the ball with your feet, chest, and head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many former football players are now devoted footvolley players, including Rom\u00e1rio, Edmundo, and J\u00fanior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After gaining so much popularity in Brazil, footvolley is now a popular sport around the world, having its own world championship and other major events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Beach_Volleyball_in_Ipanema\"><\/span>Beach Volleyball in Ipanema<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/caminhoslanguages.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/volleyball-in-rio-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"volleyball in rio\" class=\"wp-image-75485\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>At <a href=\"https:\/\/caminhoslanguages.com\/\">Caminhos Language Centre<\/a>, we take our students and friends to <a href=\"https:\/\/caminhoslanguages.com\/activities\/beach-volley\">play beach volleyball<\/a> every Monday at <a href=\"https:\/\/caminhoslanguages.com\/blog\/a-little-bit-of-ipanemas-history\/\">Ipanema Beach<\/a>. We meet at the school at 4:30 pm and go together. We have our own net and ball and everyone is welcome to join our game.
